I’m so excited about this post! This tea is one of the reasons I named the blog ‘The Mint Thief’. As I always ended up buying bunches & bunches of mint leaves. Chai (Indian Tea) has always played a special role at our house while growing up. In India morning’s don’t start without a cup of tea, made with milk ginger, green cardamom and sugar. It is a daily staple. But for me & my husband, we both are not very fond of ‘Chai’. We are what one would call – ‘Social Chai Drinkers’.
We are always in a hunt for good flavored tea, but never found anything we loved. Until we visited my husband’s cousin in Chicago. She served us Mint Tea 2-3 times a day in the cutest hand-painted Moroccan glasses. And we instantly fell in love with it. (off course because of Mint). I couldn’t wait to get back home and try it out. This tea is on a whole different level. Forget cocktails, forget coffee, fresh mint tea is my new jam.
Fresh mint leaves from my garden…
Fresh mint tea works wonderfully as a hot or cold infusion. I made it hot here, but you can easily let it cool and keep it in the refrigerator to drink iced tea on a hot day. Pour the tea into a pitcher, and keep it in the refrigerator to drink over ice on a hot day when you want something refreshing to drink. I can’t get enough of this tea. It’s minty, soothing, refreshing, and oh so sweet. Simply put, it just makes me happy.
Here’s how you can make it too:
