About The Recipe

We are back with another brownie recipe and…let me just say, it might be our best yet!

As many of you know by now, my mom and I are absolute chocoholics. We love anything and everything to do with chocolate. Honestly, M&M’s have always been our go-to candy! And, what’s better than a good M&M brownie? We all know ’em, we all love ’em.

But, to level up the flavor of the brownie we all remember from childhood, my mom and I tweaked our classic brownie to give you a dessert that’s better than any other brownie recipe.

Of course, the first thing we had to do was add more chocolate! I mean, the more chocolate…the better, right? Then, we added an extra egg. Why?

Well, eggs add richness and make these brownies even more decadent.

Annnd finally…a whole bag of M&M’s!! Yep. You read that right. A whole bag (10 oz!) of sweet chocolate candy.

Every bite is the perfect combination of flavors and textures. It’s chewy, fudgy, a little crunchy, and not too sweet. It’s truly the perfect dessert/snack for every occasion.

How To Make M&M Brownies (Step-by-Step!)

Step 1: Prepare batter

Combine chocolate and butter in a microwave safe bowl. Heat in 15 second increments, stirring after each, until melted and smooth. Set aside.

In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla.

Whisk in chocolate mixture.

Stir in flour.

Fold in M&M’s.

Step 2: Bake

Pour into pan and spread evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or to desired degree of doneness.

How To Tell When Brownies Are Perfectly Baked

We found that, with these brownies in particular, using a cake tester or tooth pick is the best way to tell when they’re perfectly baked. After inserting the cake tester, it should still be a little damp with maybe one or two crumbs on it.

This means that the brownies are still fudge-y and moist, while being just barely baked!

Mix-In Ideas

Looking to spice things up a bit? Here are a few additions to add to your brownies to make them even MORE delicious!

  • Add nuts! It’s a super simple way to add flavor and texture. Walnuts, pecans, or peanuts make a delicious addition to these brownies.
  • Caramel pieces/chunks can add gooey goodness to these brownies.
  • Chopped Oreos
  • Peppermint Pieces
  • Chopped Candies (Snickers or Twix are our favs!)
  • Shredded Coconut

How To Store

Since these brownies are so moist, it’s best to keep them in a zip-top bag or airtight container and in the fridge for 5-7 days. You can also store them in the freezer in a freezer safe bag for up to 2 months!

Substitutions

  • Semi-sweet chocolate can be used in place of bittersweet chocolate, but keep in mind that the chocolate flavor will not be as strong.
  • Seasonal M&M’s can be used to make these brownies more festive!
  • To add extra flavor, try using your favorite filled M&M’s: peanut butter, caramel, brownie, etc.

Expert Tips

  • Be careful to not over-mix the brownie batter.
  • If you’re worried the brownies may stick, place a piece of parchment in the bottom of your pan and spray with baking spray!
  • These brownies are very fudgy. If you like them a little more done, leave in an additional 5 minutes.
  • To get clean slices, be sure to wipe off your knife after each cut!
