This Corona Sunrise drink has a sweet citrus flavor and gorgeous color. One sip, and you'll realize why it's a TikTok sensation!
My corona sunrise is inspired by the classic tequila sunrise. It features the same fruity flavors and bright colors you love but with a beer twist. It blends tart citrus flavors with sweet grenadine and smooth tequila.
Why I Love This Drink
- Easy Peasy: It is easy to make. Bonus: No glasses to wash up; everything is made right in the bottle. Simply recycle at the end of the evening.
- Common Ingredients and no special equipment
- Great for parties: Allow guests to mix their own or prepare in advance in a punch bowl or pitcher.
Great For
- Cinco de Mayo
- Beach parties
- Summer brunch
Ingredient Notes and Shopping Tips
- Corona Beer: This is a pale Mexican lager made by Grupo Modelo.
- Flavor: It has a light, crisp flavor with a slightly bitter, hoppy finish.
- Strength: Around 4.6 ABV
- Substitutes: Any pale Mexican beer such as Modelo Pacifico will also work.
- Tequila: I like Jose Cuervo Especial tequila. It is a mixto tequila which means it is made from both agave and cane sugar.
- Flavor: Smooth and sweet. The prominent flavor is agave with hints of citrus and vanilla.
- Strength: 80 Proof or 40% ABV
- Price:~$20
- Substitutes: Patron would be my second choice. Casamigos is also good.
- Also, try it in: Tequila sunrises, or Blue or Strawberry Margaritas.
- Orange Juice: I prefer no pulp for a smoother drink. You can also experiment with freshly squeezed or orange fruit juice blends like pineapple mango.
- Grenadine: This sweet red syrup is made from pomegranate juice. Look for in the mixers aisle near the tonic water. You can also make your own grenadine.
How To Make a Corona Sunrise
- Pour out (or drink) half of the beer.
- Pour in orange juice, grenadine, and tequila. You can also pour these into a pitcher and then pour into the beer bottle.
- Garnish with lime if desired.
Tips
- Pour Out Carefully: The halfway mark is at the top of the label on the bottle.
- Adjust To Your Tastes: Add more or less grenadine, depending on how sweet and red you want your drink to be.
- Keep Everything Ice Cold: Keep the beer in the fridge until you're ready to make this recipe.
- Avoid stirring or shaking the drink since the beer is carbonated.
