FAQ

What is chicken salad?

Technically, chicken salad is any salad with chicken as a main ingredient. However, the chicken salad we all think of is made with white meat chicken, mayonnaise, celery, and pepper as a base. It can often contain hard-boiled eggs, onions, or pickles, as well.

How do you shred chicken?

Remove any skin and fat from your chicken. Then, place the chicken – preferably warm – in a large bowl, and shred it with two forks or shredding claws. You can also use a hand mixer or stand mixer to shred hot or warm chicken.

Is it easier to shred chicken cold or warm?

Warm or hot chicken is far easier to shred than cold chicken. When chicken is warm, the protein strands break apart easily, making shredding a breeze. By the same token, if you want to slice your chicken, you should do so when it’s cold.
